Josh Groban Nominated To Cal. Supreme Court
On Wednesday, November 24, 2018, Governor Jerry Brown nominated Joshua Groban to fill retired Justice Kathryn Wedergar’s seat on the California Supreme Court. For the past 8 years, Mr. Groban has served as Governor Brown’s Senior Advisor for Judicial Appointments, overseeing the appointment of approximately 600 state court judges and justices. One of Mr. Groban’s top priorities in evaluating judicial candidates was promoting diversity and equality. During Mr. Groban’s tenure, a record numbers of highly qualified and diverse candidates were appointed to the bench. These nominees included LGBTQ+ candidates, women and people from other minority groups.
Mr. Groban has had a significant impact on legal and policy related matters involving education, criminal justice, national security and constitutional interpretation. Mr. Groban will make an excellent addition to the Supreme Court and THLA congratulates him on his nomination.
