THLA Co-Authors Article on LGBTQ+ Judges in California Judiciary
THLA recently signed on as a co-author of an article focusing on the lack of LGBTQ+ representation in the California state and federal judiciary entitled, “The New Frontier of LGBTQ+ Equality: The California State and Federal Judiciary.” The article is the product of work done by a coalition of LGBTQ+ bar associations from San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orange County, and Sacramento. The article focuses on the historical lack of LGBTQ+ judges, the current state of LGBTQ+ representation on the bench, and the need for greater LGBTQ+ judicial appointments so the bench more accurately reflects the LGBTQ+ population of the state. THLA extends a special thanks to Co-President Kimberly Ahrens, as well as the other LGBTQ+ bar association representatives, for their time and effort in compiling the statistics and drafting the article.
